📰 WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The Fed's decision lands at 2pm ET today, with Chair Warsh's press conference to follow. This is a genuinely live meeting — CME FedWatch has odds of a quarter-point hike hovering around 30%, up sharply from just 16% two weeks ago, even though the base case (economists polled by FactSet) still expects a hold at 3.50%-3.75%, which would be the fifth straight meeting unchanged. As we discussed yesterday, the bigger risk isn't the 25bps itself — it's whether the tone signals more hikes are coming, especially with the Nasdaq 100 already flirting with correction territory after Monday's Kospi-driven chip selloff.

A striking divergence in AI-power-infrastructure names today. Vertiv is down ~9.2% (2.4x normal options volume), while Bloom Energy is up ~10% (3.0x normal options volume) — two stocks tied to the same data-center-power theme moving in completely opposite directions, a reminder that "AI infrastructure" isn't one trade right now.

Teradyne surged ~15.1% on 2.0x normal options volume, and GE HealthCare is up ~9.6% (2.3x volume) — both look earnings-driven, clean single-stock stories rather than part of a broader theme.

Chips are showing real dispersion, not uniform weakness. Lam Research is down ~2.5% (2.4x normal options volume), while Micron has stabilized to roughly flat (2.7x volume) after Monday's sharp selloff — the "AI circular financing" scare from earlier this week hasn't hit every chip name evenly.

🎯 MOMENTUM PLAYS TO WATCH — Confirmed by Options Flow

VRT — Down ~9.2% on 2.4x normal options volume — the sharpest confirmed move in the AI-infrastructure space today, in the opposite direction of Bloom Energy.

BE — Up ~10.0% on 3.0x normal options volume — continuing this week's volatility, now recovering sharply.

TER — Up ~15.1% on 2.0x normal options volume — a clean, earnings-driven single-stock story.

LRCX & MU — Diverging within chips: Lam Research down ~2.5%, Micron roughly flat — both confirmed by 2.4-2.7x normal options volume.

📅 TODAY'S CALENDAR

FOMC rate decision at 2pm ET, followed by Chair Warsh's press conference at 2:30pm ET. This is the single most consequential event of the week.

TRADER'S NOTE

Today's real story is dispersion, not direction — the indexes are barely moving, but individual names are swinging 9-15% in both directions underneath. That's often what a market looks like right before a genuinely uncertain macro event: capital rotating and hedging rather than committing to a broad view ahead of 2pm.
